A new Google Business Profile power widget

Last June, Google began testing a “Profile Power” widget, or status icon that tells you if you need to do more with your Google Business profile. The widget went live at the end of February and appears to have been fully deployed.

Google places a small icon next to a “profile strength” label that tells you how complete your Google professional profile is. Here’s what it looks like:

Why don’t I (entirely) agree with this feature?

What’s the problem? Local SEO experts know best whether a profile is complete. Just because a company listing doesn’t use all the features, such as ads, doesn’t mean the profile isn’t complete.

But it’s clear that this is a good way for Google to scare merchants into converting to AdWords…;-)
